Sablefin Hatcheries is playing a leading role in the diversification of the local fish farming sector by providing farms with the exciting new option of raising a high value fish native to the waters of British Columbia.
The company mission is to explore and develop science-based technologies for controlled propagation of marine fish fry. The company has positioned itself as a “stand alone” hatchery and has no plans to diversify or integrate into the farming, processing or marketing of farmed fish.
Sablefin Hatcheries is currently focusing on refining techniques for production of sablefish. Its plan is to be producing and selling two million fish to the fish farming sector by our fifth operational year. Within the next few years the company also intends to expand its range of products to include rock Fish, ling cod and Pacific grey cod.
